Cal Poly is building nicely for the future.

Having secured a 2012 verbal commitment from Ruben Duran, the No. 47 ranked player in the Top 100, LA Galaxy midfielder Sean Dhillon has recently confirmed that he too will be joining the Mustangs in 2012.

“I had been seriously considering a number of schools; Cal Poly presented an academic, athletic, environmental and financial fit that I did not want to pass up,” Dhillon explained.

Dhillon is one of the top goal-scorers on his Galaxy team and is known for his speed and work rate. He will be a good addition to the Cal Poly program, as will Duran – a major talent who is dynamic with the ball at his feet.

But enough about the Mustangs, here are the rest of the week’s commitments:

Akio Ohtake-Gordon (Colorado Rush) has verbally committed to Loyola Marymount for the 2012 season. A talented striker for the Colorado Rush, Ohtake-Gordon had previously revealed his college considerations which included Santa Clara, Stanford, UC Santa Barbara, North Carolina and UCLA. He is ranked No. 6 in our Rocky Mountains & Southwest Region.

Matt Tysinger (CFYSA Breakers) has verbally committed to High Point for the 2012 season.

Mark Ray (Clay County Soccer Club) has signed with Andrews Presbyterian College for the 2011 season.

Joshua Penn has verbally committed to Virginia Tech for the 2012.

Defender Jay Shoates (Regional FC) has verbally committed to American for the 2012 season.

Matt Foldesy (Internationals) has verbally committed to Akron for the 2012 season.

And in another high profile early commit, Drew Murphy (LA Galaxy) has verbally committed to Loyola Marymount for the 2013 season. Murphy, No. 84 in his Top 100 class and a play-maker and goal-scorer for his Development Academy team, has decided to secure his future earlier than most.
