Assessing the U17 MNT from Mexico City
The U.S. U17 Men’s National Team recently wrapped up a tournament in Mexico with a disappointing 6-3 loss to the hosts in the final. The lopsided result against Mexico came on the final day of play, as the U.S. searched for all three points in order to win the tournament after picking up a 3-3 draw against Portugal and a 2-1 win against Qatar. The 10 goals conceded over the course of three games will not sit well with the U.S. coaching staff, as the group prepares for World Cup qualification in April of 2017.
Despite the 1-1-1 record from the tournament in Mexico City, there were some positives from the trip down there for head coach John Hackworth and his staff to take forward as he tries to get the 2000 age group ready for regional tournament in Panama in less than eight months from now.
