Boys Club Soccer Standouts: Oct. 31-Nov. 1
It was an unforgettable weekend in boys club soccer in the United States.
Charlotte FC Academy had a memorable bout against Atlanta United, as the franchise decided to stream the game and play in front of 1,800 fans at Bank of America Stadium.
The home crowd, which was socially-distanced inside the massive stadium, went home happy as the Charlotte FC U17 team escaped with a 3-2 win over the rivals from Georgia.
Philadelphia Union Academy also faced a big test this weekend against New York Red Bulls. The Union claimed a 3-2 win in the U17 age group as new arrival Bajung Darboe continues to impress.
In the Boys ECNL, the schedulers are starting to get creative to help teams in shutdown states return to action. Beach FC and LA Breakers, two clubs separated by about 30 miles, ended up squaring off in Nevada this weekend as both traveled to play another game and then against the local rival some 280 miles away from home. I guess, this is 2020.
