Andrew Kendall-Moullin, Defender, Shattuck St. Mary’s Academy
Class:
2013
Commitment:
SIUE

A right back in the Development Academy, Andrew Kendall Moullin found everything he needed in a college program at SIUE.

“I decided to commit to SIUE because they take a professional approach to the game,” he told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “They want to play the game the right way and they take pride in winning.”

A program earning headlines for the strides made in recent times, the campus and location also held a strong appeal to the defender.

“It is very close in terms of size,” Kendall-Moullin said. “My main thing was a school that is small in acreage. It has a rural feel but it is also very close to St. Louis about 30 minutes or so. The professors and academic advisors are passionate about what they do.”

Head coach Kevin Kalish was the driving force behind Jason Hackett’s decision to verbally commit to SIUE for 2013.

“I was more comfortable with the coaching staff at SIUE compared to the other schools,” Hackett told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “I've watched their team play and really like their style of soccer and I can picture myself contributing to the program.”

Kalish is slowly picking up headlines as he continues to grow the program in stature and it’s something that Hackett noticed and wanted to be a part of down the road.

“The men's soccer program is definitely getting stronger each year,” he said. “They have been in and out of the top 25 all season long and I would expect them to be a consistent top 20 team in the coming years. They compete in the MVC conference and I think its one of the most competitive conferences in D1 soccer.”

Aside from the soccer team, Hackett won’t be too far away from his native St. Louis, a big plus for him.

“The size of the school is perfect for me, not too big/not too small,” Hackett said. “The campus is beautiful and less than 1 hour from home.  I can get the experience of going away but I won't be too far from home.”

Other commitments:

Stefan Sarkovich (California Development Academy) committed to Holy Cross for the class of 2013.

Hunter Vandenboom, a midfielder for Vardar committed to Pittsburgh for the class of 2013.
