Boys DA Weekly Standouts: May 18-19
It was the final weekend of the regular season for a number of teams in the Boys Development Academy. Barca Academy U18/19 finished the season on a nine-game winning streak and sits in the no. 2 spot in the playoff standings. Crossfire is also red-hot over the last two months, as the team from Washington is riding a nine-game winning streak with wins over MLS academies Vancouver Whitecaps and Seattle Sounders during that period.
For some other squads, there are a few weeks left in the regular season. In the U16/17 age group, there are a number of MLS academy teams fighting for the last few wildcard spots. Considering MLS academy teams success at that age group, it could be opening the door for a non-MLS team to claim the national title this summer in the U16/17 age group.
From this past weekend, there were a number of individual standouts. Check out who stood out from the games below. If you would like to recommend a player for the weekly standouts list, please email rankings@topdrawersoccer.com.
