The TeamRank Top 25 presented by Barca Academy, the comprehensive ranking system for elite club soccer teams nationwide, continues July updates this week with the U13, U14, and U15 boys club soccer teams. We will update our National Top 25 for each age group at least once per month.

Prepping for Nationals 

The U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship kicks off on Tuesday from Frisco, Texas. The U15 age group is going to be one of the most competitive. Local team Solar Chelsea Red 02 Stricker was dominant on the way to the Region III championship with a 6-0 victory in the final. Riley O’Donnell finished as the leading scorer for the region and should be one to watch at the Toyota Soccer Center next week. 

Solar’s dominance at the regional level propelled the team into the top spot in the Barca Academy TeamRank Top 25 for the U15 boys club soccer team ranking. Arizona squad Tuzos Academy jumps up to the No. 2 spot in the Barca Academy TeamRank Top 25 for the July update. Tuzos won the Region IV championship. Jason Villalba was the leading scorer of the event with nine goals.

Showcase Shenninigans 

The Development Academy Showcase had a big influence on the Barca Academy TeamRank Boys U14 Top 25 club teams in this month’s edition of the ranking. New York Red Bulls went 3-0 at the event with wins over FC Dallas, De Anza Force, and San Jose Earthquakes. Kyle Linhares finished as the top scorer for Red Bulls with five goals from three games. 

Solar Chelsea SC also jumped up the rankings in the Barca Academy TeamRank Top 25 for the U14 boys. Solar was 3-0 while in Indiana playing at the Development Academy Showcase. Solar recorded wins over Crossfire Premier, Virginia Development Academy and FC Golden State. 

D.C. United also enjoyed a successful run at the DA Showcase with a 2-0-1 record. D.C. beat Orlando City and Pateadores while playing to a draw against Sporting Kansas City.

All Eyes on Frisco  

The U13 age group does not participate in the end of the season showcase so the final results of the Development Academy season were factored into the last update for the Barca Academy TeamRank Top 25. However, the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships are on the horizon for this age group and the four regional champions check in among the TeamRank Top 25 this month.

Barca Academy TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
