The Development Academy is in a lull for the holiday weekend with only seven fixtures on the docket over four days. The main action is in the East Conference where over half of the games will be played this weekend.

East Conference

A fixture between MLS academies kicks off the weekend when Montreal Impact hosts New England Revolution on Friday night. Impact, in its first season in the Development Academy, is out of the playoff picture in both age groups, but could finish the year with a winning record in the U18 age group with a pair of victories over the weekend.

Revolution won the first meeting this season 1-0 in the U18 game behind a goal from Quenton Swift. The two U16 sides battled to a 0-0 draw.

On Sunday, Revolution returns to Gillette Stadium where they will host New York affiliate Revolution Empire. Empire edged its parent club 2-1 in the U18 match back in April behind goals from Jordan Allen and Matthew Vuylsteke. The New York team will need to win the next four games to keep the slim hope of a postseason berth alive. Revolution, depending on some other results, could clinch a top three finish in the division over the weekend.

In the U16 meeting, Revolution cruised to a 4-0 win in the first meeting this season behind goals from Amadu Kunateh, Declan McCabe, and Trevor Davock. Revolution hold one of the final wild card spots and need to continue picking up victories to keep pace during the final stages of the season.

Impact ends its regular season with a fixture against BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday. The two clubs battled to a scoreless draw in the U18 game earlier this season. BW cannot afford to suffer a similar fate on Sunday, as the New York club needs the full points to keep playoff aspirations a reality.

In the other fixture from the Northeast Division, Seacoast United hosts New York Red Bulls on Sunday. Red Bulls can clinch the division title in the U16 age group with a point from the game against Seacoast. New York won the previous meeting this season 4-1 thanks to goals from Derrick Etienne, Dante Perez, Alexander Tejera, and Anthony Viteri.

In the Southeast Division, South Carolina United Battery Academy hosts Weston FC on Monday in the lone action from the weekend. Weston FC U18 has already clinched the division crown, but will be playing for postseason seeding in its final game of the regular season. Nicholas Pappacena notched a hat trick in the first meeting this season, as the Columbia bound striker propelled his club to a 6-3 win.

West Conference

The Southwest Division is the host of the lone fixture from over the weekend as the  San Diego clubs battled on Saturday. Neither side has a shot at the postseason, but the normally competitive affairs should still make for an entertaining fixture. Surf U16 won the first meeting this season 2-0 behind a pair of goals from Anthony Wright. The teams played to a scoreless draw in the U18 age group.

Central Conference

The lone Central Conference fixture of the weekend has Chicago Magic PSG heading east to take on Indiana Fire Academy on Saturday. Both clubs have clinched playoff berths in the U18 age group, so this weekend’s clash will all be for seeding. Indiana Fire won the first meeting this season 2-1 thanks to late goals from Joey Bastian and Lindo Mfeka, who has since left the club and enrolled at South Florida. The U16 game offers more drama, as Chicago Magic have frantically made a late season push for a playoff spot and look to be on the verge of making that dream a reality with three wins from its last three games. Michael Carragher and Caleb Young combined to lead Magic to a 2-1 win in the first meeting this season.
