The ECNL Boys U14 final was not the prettiest of games, but LAFC So Cal did what was needed to win the title. For the Dallas Texans, it heartbreakingly marks a second straight season where the team lost the national title in penalty kicks.
Both goals came in the first half, with the California side scoring first on a well-worked team move, concluding with Santiago Magana Orozco slipping a through ball to Javier Puga III, who finished above the keeper.
The Texans equalized minutes later as Miguel Cruz Jr. executed an impressive first-time finish on a cross from Noam Lipszyc.
The remainder of the game was mostly a midfield battle as the best chance would come for Texans forward Sebastian Marquez Libre, heading the ball over the goalkeeper, but LAFC So Cal center-back Chase Davidoff was there for the goal-line clearance.
That set the template for Ido Rosenberg to save two shots in the penalty shootout and give his team a well-earned ECNL national title.
Player of the Match: Ido Rosenberg, LAFC So Cal
