Girls Club Soccer Standouts: April 9-11
On a weekend that was supposed to be one of the busiest in the youth soccer calendar, there was a quiet dud. The ECNL canceled the spring event in Arizona a few weeks back, which left a number of teams scrambling to fill the gap in the schedule.
Real Colorado, always at the forefront of opportunities and challenges, sent some of their top squads to Washington to face off against the best teams from Seattle during the newly open window. They were only friendlies but it was a good test for all of the clubs involved.
Some teams in the Southwest were able to get some official league games in over the weekend as that conference looks to make up on lost ground from missing the fall season.
In the Girls Academy League, there were a smattering of games as most teams readied for the big national event that kicks off on Friday from Florida. Check back later this week for a preview from that event.
