The 2019/2020 Girls Development Academy season kicks off this weekend. The big change for this season is the Development Academy deciding to split the U17/U16 into separate age groups. The addition of the new age group provides an opportunity for a number of new players with the expansion of the amount of DA teams. 

The split does have some negative consequences though. We will never see the matchup between San Jose Earthquakes 04 and Solar 03 - the two most dominant teams in the DA from the 2018/2019 season. 

There will still be plenty of challenges for those teams this season. Take a look at the teams to watch in the U16 and U17 age groups this season.
