Top five adjustments at U16

De Anza Force ECNL tallied 15 goals on its way to the first two wins of the spring season, extending its unbeaten record to 12-0-1 and earning this month’s No. 1 overall ranking. Saying the Force employed a “balanced attack” is an understatement as goals came from 11 different players in those two matches.

Dallas Texans ECNL have been inching up the leaderboard all season, and the Texas Conference leaders move up one spot to No. 4 upon earning a 2-0 win over No. 6 TSC Hurricane to put them 10 points ahead of TSC with only two conference matches remaining. Leading scorer and Texas regional standout Alexandria Griffin notched her eleventh goal in the win.

Internationals climb at U17

Ohio teams are heading into the bulk of their ECNL seasons, and Internationals is leading the way, climbing from No. 25 to No. 19 after earning wins over all three of its rivals in the Ohio Valley division in the month of March.

Riding on a 4-0-2 record in March, Washington Premier moved into the second spot in the ECNL Mountain Division and enters the rankings this month at No. 24.

Blues re-enter top 10 at U18

Two early season losses in conference play kept the SoCal Blues out of the top ten for much of this season, but once spring matches began, the Blues rebounded in a big way, earning a 4-0 win over Strikers FC and a huge 6-2 defeat of conference leader and No. 7 San Diego Surf to climb to No. 9 in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25. In the match against Surf, IMG Academy 150 standouts Peyton Perea (2015 Class No. 28) and Katie Pingel (2016 Class No. 30) each scored a hat trick. Pingel upped her ECNL season tally to 17 goals, and has added five for Beach FC’s U18s in USYS National League play.

US Youth Soccer National League completed play in March, and Carlsbad Elite finished the season undefeated, punching its ticket straight to the USYS national championships in July. Carlsbad eeked out two draws on the final weekend to secure the undefeated record, climbing two spots to No. 15.

Next Thursday: U13, U14, and U15 Boys

Grande Sports Academy TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
