Union climbs, USA debuts at U13

Philadelphia Union 2002, now at No. 12, started the spring portion of its Northeast Pre-Academy League in March with three wins to extend its record to 12-0-1. Union’s one draw on the season came way back in October to No. 1 New York Red Bulls, and if the win streak continues, Union will be in a prime spot for playoffs and a berth to the NPL Finals in July.

We mentioned United Soccer Academy Mt. Pleasant’s run in the Southern Premier League last month. USA Mt. Pleasant finished its SPL season on top of its division after concluding that run with a win against Charlotte Soccer Academy and a draw with CASL Academy Jrs. Coach Patel’s team then swept the SPL playoffs, beating North Atlanta SA Elite and No. 24 Concorde Fire North Elite at the beginning of April to earn a spot in the USYS Region III Championships and to enter our rankings at No. 23.

Sockers climbs, Celtic secure at U14

Sockers remains one of the few unbeaten teams in the Development Academy, adding two more wins since our last update to help them climb to No. 5. Leading scorer Stefan Stjanovic scored a hat trick in the win against St. Louis Scott Gallagher and added another against Shattuck St. Mary’s to increase his goal total to 10.

Baltimore Celtic is once again off to a perfect start in league play, with a 3-0 record to date in the Region I Champions League. Celtic solidified its No. 4 ranking after finishing the USYS National League season last month with a perfect record and a bid to the USYS National Championships.

West Coast FC ticks up at U15

After a lackluster performance in the National League, West Coast FC Armour has clinched the California Regional League’s Cal South Division title with one match remaining, five points ahead of No. 12 San Diego SC Navy. With the daunting Cal South National Cup on the horizon, WCFC, now at No. 8, can feel a bit of comfort knowing that a trip to the Region IV Championships has already been secured.

April 28: U13, U14, and U15 Girls

Grande Sports TeamRank Top 25 is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
