Today we unveil an update for the Grande Sports TeamRank Top 25, the comprehensive ranking system for elite club soccer teams nationwide. And we take a closer look at the latest standings for U13, U14 and U15 Boys. Next week, we will update the younger age groups on the Girls side. We will update our National Top 25 for each age group at least once per month.

New No. 1 at U13

LA Galaxy’s U13 Development Academy squad secured a 1-0 defeat of No. 3 FC Golden State on December 10 to extend its unbeaten streak to 13 matches, and five points better than No. 2 New York Red Bulls. With what is now the best record in the league at this age group, the Galaxy takes over the top spot in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25.

Weston takes a big leap this month, up seven spots to No. 16. The Miami-area side suffered just its first loss to No. 4 Philadelphia Union at the end of October, but followed that with five straight wins and just one goal against to extend its record to 10-1.

Solar, Kendall debut at U14

Solar Chelsea enters the rankings this month on the heels of a 10 match win streak, landing at No. 19. After a rough 0-2-1 start, which included an initial 6-2 loss to No. 1 FC Dallas, Solar turned things around, winning 10 straight against conference foes and showcase opponents for an overall record of 10-2-1.

Kendall SC is another newcomer, entering the rankings at No. 23. Kendall earned two shutouts against Chargers SC since our last update, and has just one loss on the season (at the hands of No. 9 Charlotte SA at the October showcase) to extend its overall record to 6-1-4.

National League standouts at U15

Several teams benefitted from superior play on the USYS National League opening weekend, resulting in higher rankings.

USA Mt. Pleasant 21 Premier earned a 3-0-1 record, with shutout wins over No. 19 Baltimore Celtic, No. 18 Delaware Rush, and No. 10 Syracuse Development Academy. Combine that National League record with a Southern Premier League championship and a run at the CASL Showcase, and USA MP lands at No. 1.

Midwest United FC Royal blew through its competition, finishing the weekend first in the Red Division standings with a 4-0-0 record. Class of 2020 forward Noah Brumels leads all scorers in the NL (all age groups) with an incredible 12 goals.

MUFC and USA MP will face each other when the league reconvenes in March.

Next Thursday: U13, U14, and U15 Girls

Grande Sports TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
