BRADENTON- The second day of the IMG Cup college showcase at the IMG Academy started off with more gloomy weather, but the day ended with a nice breeze and some beautiful Florida sunshine. Here are some of the key matchups from the day.

Kendall United 97/98 U17 (FL) 2-0 Tampa Bay United Select West U17 (FL)

Kendall United 97/98 left no doubt throughout its Saturday morning match against Tampa Bay United Select West, with Kendall's Adanna Edwards proving once more why she's becoming such a hot commodity in the girls club soccer circuit down in the Miami area. Edwards blazed past Tampa Bay defenders for most of the evening with the forward showing off her top flight speed.

Tampa Bay just could never find much breathing room in the passing lanes to make any serious attempts at goal against Kendall, with TBU only getting off one shot on goal in the first half. TBU's one opening half opportunity was when forward Michaela Carson snuck through Kendall's back defense and chipped a shot over towards goal, but the ball would roll harmlessly past the left post.

Edwards had numerous chances to score against TBU's defense within the first 10 minutes of the game. The 15-year old finally broke through with a goal when teammate Caroline Kolski got a pass over to her across the box and Edwards was able to knock it home past Tampa Bay goalkeeper Haley Deboe.

The second half featured much of the same control that Kendall showed in the first half, as TBU never really threatened and had to play more of a defensive strategy the entire contest. Kendall added another score in the latter part of the second half, with Carly Cuadra scoring the insurance goal.

Weston U16 (FL) 1-1 Reserve Florida Fire Juniors U16 (FL)

In a pretty evenly played match between Weston and Reserve Florida Fire Juniors, the late morning game got intense in the second half. The game would end as a tie, because neither team was able to notch the go ahead goal.

Neither club could string together enough passes to create any consistent flow offensively, as both teams battled back and forth for control at midfield. Weston scored within the first few minutes, with forward Sabastian Betancur blasting a shot past Florida Fire goalkeeper Baly Martins.

Florida Fire would answer back later in the opening half, with a goal of their own as Jack Gilliams found Dylan Rodrigues on a crossing pass and the forward would knock it home into the empty net.

In the second half, both teams tried in vain to pull off netting a late goal, but the defenses would not let their guards down. Betancur had a couple opportunities to add another goal to his stat line, but just could not get by Martins a second time. Weston out shot Florida Fire seven shots to three.

IMGA U15 (FL) 6-0 VA Legacy East U15 (VA)

Host IMG Academy's U15 club scored three times in the opening half and easily won its early afternoon match against VA Legacy East.

IMG controlled the game in just about every facet and the first half proved to be the overall indicator when they jumped out on Legacy East early. IMG midfielder Nicole Cook found Katie Brock, who is just 13 years old, streaking across the box and nailed home the game's first goal.

It wasn't too long after that the flood gates started to open just a little bit more when IMG forward Blake Johnson increased the lead to 2-0. IMG forward/midfielder Victoria Costa had a stellar game, with two goals and an assist in the victory.

In the second half, IMG added three more goals from Costa, Regan LaBelle and Haley Triplett. VA Legacy only notched two shots on goal compared to IMG's 18 targets.

IMG Academy U16 (FL) 4-0 ODP Region 3 U16

IMG U16 was able to connect on a couple goals in the first half and added two more in the second half to defeat ODP Region 3.

IMG Academy out shot ODP Region 3 eight shots to two and controlled possession for most of the contest. ODP, which is a team with players from different teams and two Canadian players, just couldn't get much going offensively playing in their first game as a squad.

IMG's first goal came when Elizabeth Phan was fouled in the penalty box and scored on a penalty kick in early going of the game. Teammate Olivia Runge found the back of the net not too long later and helped build a 2-0 at halftime for IMG.

A couple more goals were added in the second half by IMG's Caroline Hansen and Sydney Spruill.

Chargers SC LWR U17 (FL) 3-2 North Fort Myers SC Black U17 (FL)

The Chargers SC LWR U17 team took a 3-0 lead early in the second half against North Fort Myers SC Black U17 and were able to hold onto a 3-2 victory Saturday evening.

Chargers received a big day from forward Jonathan Boyd, who netted two goals, including the go ahead goal, assisted by Tyler Winger, early in the second half.

"Our team played really well out there today," Chargers assistant coach Jeff Winger said. "We got our to a comfortable lead and got the result we wanted."

Winger's club took the early 1-0 lead when midfielder Henry Howell was fouled in the box and teammate Etinne Behan knocked home the penalty kick awarded. Moments later, Boyd scored the first of his two goals and nearly scored a few minutes later.

North Fort Myers would not go down quietly, however, and scored goals in the 51st and 78th minute but were not able to nail the equalizer.
