“US Youth Soccer offers top notch programs for youth players across the country and our leadership continuously evaluates our programs to further the benefits to our players. Known for its competitive and meaningful matches, teams who have competed in the US Youth Soccer National League, now in its third season, have already claimed eight US Youth Soccer National Championships,” said Larry Monaco, president of US Youth Soccer. “Evaluating this level of success and the value that advancement to the National Championships adds to the League, it was only natural to continue the promotion of teams into the National Championships.”

The League is an extension of the highly successful US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues - US Youth Soccer Region I (East) Premier League, Midwest Regional League, Region III (South) Premier League and the Region IV (Far West) Regional League.  The National League provides an avenue for teams to play in meaningful matches against top competition from across the country for continued player development and opportunities for exposure at the next level.  In addition to collegiate recruiting opportunities, National League teams compete for the League title and two slots per gender age group to the annual US Youth Soccer National Championships.

Since its inception, National League representatives have captured a combined eight US Youth Soccer National Championships. In 2008, seven of the eight championship finals slots in the Under-15 and 16 age groups were won by National League teams, which resulted in the League's first four National Championships. The League notched four more National Championship titles in 2009 including the Under-15 Boys (Baltimore Casa Mia Bays) and Girls (San Diego Surf) as well as Under-16 Boys (Dallas Texans 93 Red) and Under-17 Girls (Eclipse Select).

2009-2010 National League play continues this month and through March.
