For the many of you who track our Players To Watch section regularly, you should know that we are busy at work in all facets of that feature, scouting, evaluating, conversing and updating to make it as accurate as we can.

The task of tracking more than 10,000 club players nationwide is no small one, but we continue to improve the quality of the lists as we scour the countryside for the top performers in the game, assimilating information from our own staff, trusted observers nationwide, college and club coaches and even your own submissions of data via the tools on our web site.

This summer we are undergoing an intensive review of the players in the regional top 20 lists from both Boys and Girls soccer nationwide. Our 16 regional top 20s per age group are being evaluated and updated as we look at players in events such as the USSF Development Academy Playoffs and National Finals, the Elite Clubs National League National Finals and the U.S. Youth Soccer Regional and National Championships.

We’re also checking national and regional rosters for select teams of various types, and continuing to talk to personnel across the country in order to extend our reach.

After we complete this regional evaluation, we’ll resume our monthly National Top 100 updates (in the 2011 and 2012 graduating classes) in August.

We’re also entering data in our revamped TeamRank section and preparing the August launch of our College Players To Watch section, which will include Top 100 players rankings for freshmen and upperclassmen (Men and Women) AND conference-by-conference top 20 player rankings, which will be updated weekly through the season, along with our already popular Tournament 64 and 48 national college soccer rankings. This will go with complete coverage of matches and standings throughout the college season.
