Russell Canouse, 20 years old, made his Bundesliga debut over the weekend. Canouse came on in the second half in TSG 1899 Hoffenheim’s 1-0 win over Wolfsburg, which was only the fifth win of the season for German outfit.

Hoffenheim was leading 1-0 when Canouse entered. He helped see out the result for the side, which is trying to make a late push to avoid relegation.

Canouse was supposed to be part of the U20 World Cup last year, but missed out due to an injury in training. He has not been in the mix with the U23 Men’s National Team yet.

The Boys in Blue

Kyle Scott scored the game-winning goal for Chelsea in the UEFA Youth League Quarterfinal game against Ajax on Tuesday. Scott started the game as the left midfielder and create a few chances in the second half when he pinched in and found space in the center of the field. Scott’s goal came on a well-worked play from Chelsea, which sent him in free on goal. The midfielder had a calm, cool finish for the only goal of the game just before half.

Chelsea is the defending champions of the event, which Scott appeared in as well. The Blues move onto the semifinals against Anderlecht.

Scott has been in the mix with the U.S. youth teams in the past. His last appearance came in Sept. with the U20 MNT in a tournament in Serbia.

Yanks in England

U.S. YNT defender Daniel Barbir came off the bench in West Bromwich Albion Reserves’ 0-2 loss to Derby County on Friday. Barbir, 18 years old, is a regular with the reserves at this point with appearances in the six games for the U21 squad.

Forward Andrija Novakovich started for Reading’s U21 side in a 3-1 loss to Chelsea last week. Novakovich had one quality effort on goal that was turned away by the Chelsea goalkeeper.

Former U.S. U17 defender Matthew Olosunde made his debut with Manchester United U18s on Friday in a 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion. The New Jersey native was named to the U.S. U20 MNT roster for Dallas Cup, which kicks off on Mar. 20, so he will miss a few of Manchester United’s games.
