Ranking the age group: Boys National Teams
One of the most common questions after any introductory Youth National Team camp, is where does this birth year stack up against the rest? It’s a difficult question because there are birth years who had a lot of national team programming during the first years, but that approach has dissipated in recent years as U.S. Soccer decided to put more into the U19 and U16 age groups rather than the U14.
On the boys side, the age group is still scouted and did have one camp this year. The only camp for the U14 BNT concluded last week. This camp featured only players born in 2003 as their introduction to the YNT program.
The 2003s have some talented prospects, but where does the age group stack up against the 1998s? The 1997s? Or any of the others from the past six years? TopDrawerSoccer ranks the top five birth years.
