Red Bull/ECNL Championship brackets take shape

ZAREPHATH, NEW JERSEY – Day 2 of the Red Bull/ECNL National Finals, held here at the PDA Memorial, Day Showcase, brought its share of highlights as bracket races shaped up.
FC Virginia (white) competes against Neusport FC.The weather was again pretty good, although it got a bit more hot and humid in the afternoon. Some area lightning brought a 30-minute delay during the event’s final time slot of the day, although it never more than sprinkled at the PDA facility.
In the U15 Championship bracket, Sting Dallas and Mustang SC played to a scoreless draw, meaning these teams enter the final day of group play neck and neck for a berth in the championship game where one of them will face PDA Charge.
In the U16 Championship bracket, Stars of Massachusetts forward Hayley Brock scored four goals to lead her team to a 5-1 win over Colorado Rush and a berth in the championship. Patrice Vettori scored the other goal for Stars while Annie Kunz added one for Colorado Rush. You can look for a full video of that match this week on TopDrawerSoccer.com.
The race for the other berth in the championship is wide open between PDA Tsunami, Slammers, Mustang SC and Ohio Premier, with Monday morning’s group matches to determine the final qualifier.
In U17 play, Sting Dallas face a Monday-morning showdown with Crossfire Premier after after a 1-0 win over Eclipse Select. Crossfire defeated Albertson Fury 4-0. PDA Fire and FC DELCO play in the other group to determine the other finalist.

- Surf U16 forward Kylie McCarthy scored a pair of goals, with Allison Ariniello adding another on a great individual effort to lead Ada Greenwood’s team to a 3-1 win over CASL Spartan Elite. CASL got a goal from Noelle Beasley on nice setup from Sarah Russo.
- Slammers U16 goalkeeper Lindsey Luke produced the save of the day, diving to prevent Danielle Colaprico’s rocket launch from reaching the back of the net and preserving her team’s 3-2 win over PDA Tsunami.
- PDA Fire’s Boston College-bound attacker Mary Gibson Wagner scored a lovely goal in the late-going to pull her team into a 1-1 draw with Sereno SC and keep their qualification hopes alive.
