The Idaho Rush U17 boys completed Day 3 at the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Championships at the top of Pool A posting seven goals for and two against. It’s been a total team performance with six Rush players scoring in three games during pool play of the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Championships with a few key team members leading the charge.
Nate Hunt, Idaho Rush U17B, Class of 2012, Outside Back: Nate is a tremendous ball-striker; tenacious and plays much bigger than his size; quick, agile, aggressive who thrives getting into the attack using his speed and ball delivery. Nate scored a goal in the Rush U17’s 2-1 win over Rio Vista FC on Day 2 of pool play at the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Championships.
William Moats, Idaho Rush U17B, Class of 2012, Outside Midfield: Will is the proto-typical winger... relentless work rate and exceptional pace on and off the ball; serves an accurate flat ball and can equally be effective as a goal scorer- composed and confident in front of the goal. Will provided the Rush with the game winning goal on Day 1 of pool play at the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Championships.
Christopher Lowrimore
Kevin Fekete, Idaho Rush U17B, Class of 2012, Forward: Kevin is an unselfish playmaker. He is a fast, physical forward who is not only a creative, high percentage goal scorer, but he has been extremely difficult to defend as well as providing numerous opportunities to score at the 2011 U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Championships. Kevin’s offense and ability to find his team mates in scoring position will be a big factor during the quarterfinals for the Rush.
Bryson Pavel, Rush U17B, Class of 2012, Outside Back: Bryson is the consummate defensive presence. He is consistent and composed with an unquestionable work rate, excellent field vision, and dominance in the air. Bryson’s heart and pride shown on the field is contagious to his Rush team mates. At the 2011 U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Championships he’s been providing the Rush attack with quality balls from the back both on the ground and in the air.
Following is the Girls list (in no particular order).
Caitlin Barber, Coeur d’Alene Sting U13G, Winger: On Day 1 of the U.S. Youth Soccer 2011 Region IV Championships, Caitlin Barber proved once again that she is a composed goal scorer that makes the most of every opportunity. Caitlin came out fast and strong for the Coeur d’Alene Sting U13 girls scoring their first goal in the 3rd minute of play. The Sting went on to win 2-1.
Josee Bassett, Coeur d’Alene Sting U13G, Center Back: Josee Bassett’s natural speed and athleticism allows her to cover a tremendous amount of field providing a base for the attack out of the back as well as specializing in shutting down the opposition’s best scorers. Josee and the Sting’s other Center Back, Camryn Wendlandt complement each other making the Sting U13’s back line a practically impenetrable wall of defensive talent.
Camryn Wendlandt, Coeur d’Alene Sting U13G, Center Back: Camryn Wendlandt provides the back line with strong leadership and game intelligence. She organizes and coordinates play between the defense and the midfield and can be counted on to execute the defensive tactical plan flawlessly.
Sidney Quimby, Coeur d’Alene Sting U13G, Center Back and Camryn Wendlandt, Coeur d’Alene Sting U13G, Center Midfield: Sidney is the ‘workhorse’ of the Coeur d’Alene Sting U13G. She is a tireless athlete who controls the midfield using her exceptional field vision and ball distribution ability to create offensive chances for the attack. Sidney can also play the role of center defensive mid using her athleticism and endurance to get back quickly to support the defense.
Grace Hancock, FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U15G, Right Back / Goalkeeper: One week prior to the U.S. Youth Soccer 2011 Region IV Championships the FC Nova SuperNova Elite U15G’s starting, All-State goalkeeper sustained an injury. Starting right defensive back Grace Hancock volunteered to cover the spot beginning four intensive days of keeper training where she took no less than 600 shots on goal per day. In her first outing as keeper, Grace’s incredible athleticism, talent and heart helped her make several big saves to post the 1-0 shutout on Day 1 of the Region IV pool play.
Hallie Widner, FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U15G, Center Midfielder: The FC Nova U15G’s offensive attack starts with playing the ball through Hallie. She has incredible field vision, plays either foot, exhibits supremacy in the air and distributes the ball with pinpoint accuracy. Hallie is described as a “game changer” for this talented team.
Jenna Clubb, FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U15G, Center Back: With the one of FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U15G’s back’s subbing for the injured keeper, Jenna’s has stepped up her leadership of the defensive line at the U.S. Youth Soccer 2011 Region IV Championships. In their first game at the Championships, Jenna excelled in the air and proved that she will rarely be beat 1v1.
Cassidy Hammons, FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U15G, Defensive Midfield: Cassidy is the team captain and a strong, vocal leader. She is very strong defensively, has great field vision and is an outstanding distributor of the ball out of the back. Through her great chemistry with the Center Midfielder, she is key to connecting the defense with the offensive attack which will prove a valuable asset during the FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black’s run towards the U.S. Youth Soccer 2011 Region IV Championship.
Hannah Frakes, FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U16G, Class of 2013, Midfield/Forward: The FC SuperNova Elite Black U16G’s coaching staff made a key change after a 0-0 result in the first day of play at the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV President’s Cup moving midfielder Hannah Frakes to forward for their next game. Hannah’s excellent vision and pace as a midfielder proved an asset at forward where she morphed into a goal scoring terror posting two goals in the second game as part of the teams 5-0 win and scoring another two to round out the tournament.
Baylee Blaser, FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U16G, Class of 2013, Midfield: D1 schools have a close eye on Baylee, a technical and creative attacking midfielder who is skilled in scoring decisive goals. Baylee’s performance during the FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U16 girls run to the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV President’s Cup was no exception. Baylee’s highlight goal was a 25 yard laser that hit the wet surface and fooled the keeper to put NOVA up 1-0 against the team they tied on the opening day.
Andi Hill, FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U16G, Class of 2013, Forward: Andi played as a back at U15 and has proven her versatility, athleticism and physical presence in moving to the forward position at U16. Recently back from injury incurred during the State Cup, Andi at least a good percentage of FC Nova’s goals including a spectacular header in the semi final game at the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV President’s Cup putting the FC Nova U16 girls up 1-0 and on their way to a 3-1 win.
Rachel Earll, FC Nova SuperNova Elite Black U16G, Class of 2013, Center Back: Rachel is the anchor of the SuperNova Elite Black U16G back line and her size, athleticism, and leadership of the FC Nova back line presents opposing offenses with serious challenges on the ground and in the air. This was proven at the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV President’s Cup where the FC Nova U16G’s opponents scored just three goals off Rachel and the stingy FC Nova defense in six games. Although Rachel’s defensive abilities are without question, she is an excellent distributor of the ball providing the Nova attack with beautifully placed balls from 5 to 70 yards out.
