SD Surf win 2nd straight recruiting title
The San Diego Surf did it again.
Thanks to yet another year with a sterling graduating class, the San Diego Surf took home the IMG Top 150 girls recruiting title for a second year in a row. The Surf recorded an unmatched eight players in the 2017 class who finished inside the IMG Top 150 after racking up nine to win the title in 2016. PDA, which won the inaugural edition in 2015, finished alone in second place with six. The total number of clubs represented this year jumped from 66 in 2016 to 75, with a number of debutants boasting a recruit in the top 150.
The Surf’s long list of commits was topped by No. 3 Stanford pledge Catarina Macario, who signed her National Letter of Intent to the Pac-12 power on Wednesday. The Surf also had two more inside the top 25 in No. 6 Julie Doyle (Santa Clara) and No. 23 Arlie Jones (USC). Only So Cal Blues, which tied for fourth, had as many in the top 25.
