SAN DIEGO – For the first time, a team formed by players from POWERADE® Sueño Alianza will participate in the prestigious college showcase hosted by Surf Cup in San Diego, California from November 25-27, 2016. 

Surf Cup is one of the of the most elite college showcases in the United States and has a 22 year trajectory. In this 2016 edition of the Soccerloco San Diego Surf College Cup Showcase, the Alianza U team will participate in the U-17 category.

Thanks to the partnership between the Alianza U Foundation and Yours in Soccer Foundation, an invitation was obtained to participate in this year’s showcase. The team roster is comprised of the best POWERADE® Sueño Alianza players who were born between 2000-2002 which have excellent academic performance.

“The Alianza U Foundation provides the opportunity for the top Hispanic prospects to play in the best collegiate showcase in the United States at no cost, with the objective of putting them in the best platform and providing them with the best opportunities for a college athletic scholarship," said Joaquín Escoto, Co-Founder of the Alianza U Foundation.

The opportunity for these players to participate in Surf Cup is unique. Out of more than 600 teams that sought to participate, only 24 will participate in the U-17 category and showcase their talent against more than 100 scouts from top NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA affiliated universities.
