The TDS New York Combine featured over 100 of the region’s top players. College coaches and scouts evaluated players during technical sessions, small-sided games, and full field games. College coaches from St. John’s, Binghamton, Hofstra, and Marist among others were in attendance to scout and evaluate.

Boys in the Best XI came from top clubs like the New York Red Bulls, BW Gottschee, Revolution Empire, and the New England Revolution.

Shaun Quinn – Lehigh Valley United – Goalkeeper (2014) – Quinn made several smart decisions and big saves throughout the day. Very decisive off his line when coming out, he gets down quickly. Communicates and organizes effectively from the back.

Nikkye De Point – Revolution Empire – Defender (2016) – The U15 BNT defender showed his versatility at the NY Combine. Reads the game well and is calm on the ball. Very versatile and can play a variety of different positions. Good ball winner and does well when joining the attack.

Dale Mcnevin – Intense Soccer Academy – Defender/Midfielder (2014) – Primarily played center back on the day, but can also play as a defensive midfielder. Steps with good conviction to win the ball back. Natural leader and organizer from the back.

Christian Casagranda – BW Gottschee – Defender (2015) – Casagranda is a very good 1 v 1 defender. Strong tackler, and takes good angles to close attackers down.

Tiago Sa – Intense Soccer Academy – Defender (2015) – Very strong and physical center back. Great communication and has a very strong work ethic to him.

Derrick Etienne – New York Red Bulls – Midfielder (2015) – Etienne had a very strong showing at the Combine, and was the best male player in attendance. He is a very explosive and dynamic attacking player on the ball. Very comfortable in possession and taking players on 1 v 1. Moves well off the ball into space and has good vision. Has enormous potential, and just may be in line to receive a Homegrown offer from the Red Bulls in the future.

Colin Jouan – Bethesda SC – Midfielder (2016) – Jouan has a fantastic work rate and bossed the midfield during the full field games. His time spent at Boca Juniors has served him well judging by his polished technique. Solid box-to-box center midfielder.

Jack O'Brien – New England Revolution – Midfielder (2017) – Despite being one of the youngest players at the New York Combine, O’Brien showed impressive technique and an advanced soccer IQ. Very active in the center of the field, and is always checking into receive the ball and distribute it. Look for O’Brien to make a big splash in the Development Academy in the coming years.

Jefferson Portillo – Brentwood SC – Midfielder (2016) – Portillo combines very well in the final third. Very creative midfielder who likes to set teammates up. Possesses a good first touch and distributes the ball effectively.

James Buonavita – FC Westchester – Forward/Midfielder (2014) – Buonavita excelled both as a forward and as a midfielder at the Combine. Reads the game well and keeps the game simple.

Nick Reisgerzog – East Meadow Soccer Club – Forward (2015)  - Good strong player on the ball. Very dangerous taking players on. Makes good decisions and sees the game well. Made some excellent runs off the ball and put himself in good positions throughout the day.
