Tips for Soccer Players: Road to Recovery
A serious injury is one of the scariest possibilities for a player or parent especially in youth soccer, but it’s not the end of the line for an athletic career. The road back may be difficult and long; however, there are plenty of examples of soccer players making the return to playing at high level at the youth, college, and professional.
Knee injuries specifically ACL tears are at the top of the list of injuries that keep players on the sideline for an extended period – and are especially common in girls soccer. While surgeons have estimated a 90 percent success rate in players returning to the level pre-surgery, a study in 2012 put the figure at 72 percent.
Luckily, players have control over most of the variables to get back on the field.
