U16 Academy playoff qualifiers almost set

Here’s where we stand with just a few straggling games left to complete at the end of the regular season.

The USSF Development Academy season concludes with two major events. The first is the DA playoffs, held this year in Frisco, Texas June 24-28. Thirty-two teams qualify, the top two teams in each of 10 divisions (based on inter-divisional play) and then 12 wildcard teams (based on overall points per game). Seeding is based entirely on points per game. At the playoffs, the teams play in eight, four-team groups, with the winners of each advancing to the national finals held next month in Milwaukee.

So in the U16 age group, the picture of who is going to Dallas is basically set following last weekend’s matches.  Here’s a rundown of what the playoff picture looks like:

Division Qualifiers

Frontier: St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri, Sporting Kansas City

Great Lakes: Crew Soccer Academy, Sockers FC

Texas: 1. Texas Rush, 2. Houston Dynamo, Dallas Texans or Solar Chelsea

Liberty: FC Westchester, Albertson SC

Mid-Atlantic: DC United, PA Classics

Northeast: Empire United, New England Revolution

Atlantic: Charlotte Soccer Academy, North Carolina Fusion

Southeast: Concorde Fire, South Carolina United

Northwest: Seattle Sounders, De Anza Force

SoCal: LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake

WildCard Qualifiers

North Meck SC, Baltimore Bays, FC DELCO, Solar Chelsea SC, CASL Chelsea, Vardar, IMG Soccer Academy, FC Dallas, Chicago Fire, Real So Cal, Minnesota Thunder, Pateadores
