U17 Crossfire McCormick takes Region IV crown

LANCASTER, Calif. – 2009 US Region IV (West) Competition began with the top 248 US Youth Soccer boys and girls teams from the 14 State Associations that make up US Youth Soccer Region IV.  Each team competed for one of the most prized titles in youth soccer, the regional title. Crossfire 91 McCormick, a girls U17 team from the Crossfire Premier Club, was crowned the champion at the prestigious event.

The eighteen Crossfire 91 McCormick players came out of group play undefeated with a cumulated total of 9 goals for and 3 against.  In the Quarterfinals the team defeated Arizona 1-0 in the hot Mojave Desert moving the team onto face the Utah State Champions on June 19th.  With impressive defensive skills and offensive prowess, Crossfire 91 walked away with a 4-0 Semifinal victory moving the team onto the finals on Sunday, June 22nd.

In the final match, Crossfire McCormick soundly defeated Real So Cal Blue from California South 3-0 maintaining their defensive shutout outside of the round robin play while handing Real their first loss in the 2009 season.

Winners crowned US Youth Soccer Region IV Champions have earned a berth to the US Youth Soccer National Championships July 21-26 in Lancaster, Mass., at Citizens Bank Fields at Progin Park.
