Ulysses Llanez signs with Wolfsburg
Another U.S. youth international is off to Germany.
Midfielder/forward Ulysses Llanez announced that he's joined Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, becoming the latest up-and-coming U.S. youth prospect to head across the Atlantic.
Born in 2000, Llanez was an alternate on the U.S. Under-17 World Cup squad in 2017, and he's firmly in the picture to qualify for this year's Under-20 World Cup squad under Tab Ramos.
I’m humbled & Blessed to announce that i’ve signed my first contract with @vfl.wolfsburg! i wanna thank my family, coaches, & my friends that supported me through this journey!! πΊπ

Part of the squad at the 2018 Concacaf Championship, Llanez finished tied for second in goals scored on the team with Ayo Akinola, with Alex Mendez leading the team with eight tallies. Recently called up to the U.S. U20 MNT for a pair of friendlies in Spain, he could be a starter for the U20 World Cup squad.
A member of the LA Galaxy Academy prior to the current season, Llanez scored 48 goals in 79 games dating back to the 2015-16 campaign with LA's Under-14 squad. He played in 10 games for LA Galaxy II in the 2018 USL season, scoring two goals and logging 653 minutes. Having turned 18 this week, he's not expected to be eligible for the club's youth sides until the 2019-20 campaign.
