PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. U17 National Team defeated the University of Portland 3-2 Wednesday night in front of an impressive crowd at Merlo Field.  Several players had good showing, but three players in particular stood out above the rest.

Orrin Gaines (Lonestar SC) – No player had a better night than U.S. U17 winger Orrin Gaines. An extremely promising winger, Gaines gave the Pilots’ defense headaches all night long. He scored all three goals to power the U.S to victory.

Gaines’ ability to run at defenders was evident, as the U.S. looked to find him on the wing early and often. His first goal came when he ran inside from the right wing and drilled a left-footed shot from 25 yards out into the lower left corner of the goal.
