U.S. U20 MNT Depth Chart - FL Camp
The U.S. U20 Men’s National Team is in Florida for the next week with a 26-player roster as head coach Mikey Varas assembles a roster for the upcoming regional championship and qualifying events.
This is the second camp for Varas as the head coach of the team. USA went winless during the Revelations Cup in November, but it was not an ideal situation for a team coming off a long break. Varas was hired one day before the team left for the tournament. They only had one training before the first game.
This week-long camp in Florida should be a better measuring stick for the direction of the team and the preference for the coaching staff.
With MLS preseason also going on during this time, the 26-player roster might not be first choice options at every position as some clubs could elect to keep players with their teams in preparation for the season. For the players in camp, this can be a big opportunity to impress the coaching staff.
The positional groups reveal some of the battles that will matter in Florida for the future of this age group as we head toward more meaningful events in 2022.
