Group A Preview

Every team in Group A holds National Championship experience, and three of the four teams competed at Nationals in 2016, which includes Beach FC 98 Academy (CA-S), EGA Maroon 98 (NE) and 98 CR Academy (NC). FC Kansas City and CR Academy have both made it to the National Championship semifinals, while Beach FC competed in the finals just last year as it fell to Group B contester YMS Premier Xplosion 98 (PA-E). This will be the second National Championship run for Beach FC, EGA Maroon and CR Academy, while FC Kansas City will head to Nationals for its third time.

Group B Preview

Group B is loaded with experienced teams, including 2016 National Champion YMS Premier Xplosion 98 (PA-E) and 2012 National Champion ASA Coyotes (MD). This year will mark ASA Coyotes (MD)’s fifth run at the National Championships, and before YMS claimed the National title last year, it had made the National finals in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Team Chicago Academy 1998 Elite (IL), who competed in the 2016 National Championships, also joins the group, earning its spot through the National League. The lone newcomer to Nationals is WSA 98 Red (OK), who will compete as the Region III Representative. WSA will have some intense competition, but it has built experience in the short period of time through state cup and the Region III Championships.

Region I: ASA Coyotes (MD)

How they got to Nationals
ASA Coyotes (MD) heads into its fifth run at the National Championships after earning the 2017 Region I Championships title, defeating 2016 National Champion YMS Premier Xplosion 98 (PA-E) in the final match. ASA Coyotes took first in Group C with an undefeated record, scoring 13 goals and only allowing two. In the semifinals, ASA Coyotes claimed a 3-0 win over WVFC 98 Black (WV), and it took kicks from the mark to defeat YMS, but ASA prevailed to obtain another shot at the National Championships.
