OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The first set of final games from the US Youth Soccer National Championships kicked off Saturday night. Below are the highlights from the U14 and U15 boys and girls championship games.
U14 Girls – Eastside FC G98 Red (Wash.) 2, YMS Xplosion 98 (Pa.) 1
Eastside came out fighting for this championship title, scoring their first goal in the third minute of the match, when Joanna Harber pressured Xplosion GK, and was able to chip it into the net.
Eastside had a chance to double their lead in the 31st minute, when they were awarded a penalty kick. However, Xplosion GK Danielle Samson made a diving save to keep Xplosion in the game.
Ellie Bryant was able to give Eastside the cushion they needed in the early minutes of the second half, which would be answered by Xplosion’s Julia Lindsey in the 60th minute.
The lone goal for Xplosion wasn’t enough, as the clock ran out and Eastside FC walked away champions.
U14 Boys – Pateadores CM (Calif.) 4, Michigan Wolves 99 0
The Pateadores and the Wolves met up again in the championship game, a rematch from the first day of competition. Both teams came to play, battling from start to finish, leaving the first half scoreless.
Pateadores came out hot in the second half, scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes. The boys worked the width of the field, passing well and maintaining majority possession.
The Wolves struggled in the 56th minute, giving up an own goal and adding to the Pateadores lead. Christopher Lopez would seal the deal, and the championship title, for Pateadores in the 61st minute.

Dix Hills Elite had other plans for Santa Barbara when they took the field for the second half. When the ball was loose after a corner kick in the 64th minute, it was Christopher McAuliffe who would slam it home to equalize the score and ultimately send the game into overtime.
In the final minutes of the second overtime period, Dix Hills fouled in the box, giving Santa Barbara a penalty kick. Chairat Puengrod stepped up for the penalty and sealed the title for Santa Barbara.
