#3 Men’s Soccer Places Two on Daktronics All-America Team, Diem to First

KANSAS CITY, Kan.:  Regis University men's soccer placed two Rangers on the Daktronics All-America Teams this season.  Senior Taylor Diem earned First Team honors while sophomore Martin Maybin earned a Third Team selection.

Diem, a defender for Regis, started in 19 matches for the Rangers.  Diem was named RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-RMAC First Team honors after leading the Rangers to a 0.94 goals against average.  The defender also netted two goals, including one game-winner, while assisting on four others for eight points on the season.

Maybin led the Rangers with 15 goals, including three game-winners, and 10 assists for 40 points.  He maintained a .688 shot on goal percentage after putting 33 of his 48 shots on goal.  The forward was also a member of the All-RMAC First Team and All-Tournament Team this season.

After finishing the 2012 regular season with an RMAC Championship, the Rangers saw their first NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance all-time.  Their 17 wins broke Regis men's soccer records, while the Rangers also topped the record books with points (173), points per game (8.65), goals (64), goals per game (3.2) and game-winning goals (17), among others.

Their 14-0-0 conference record was the second time in RMAC history that a men's soccer program went undefeated throughout regular season play; it was a first for the Ranger's program.

Regis stayed in the top spot for three weeks on the NSCAA/Continental Tire National Poll, and stayed on the poll for 10 straight weeks after their first ranking on September 11, 2012.  It was the first time any sport at Regis had ranked #1 at the national level.
