TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Arkansas women’s soccer team fired off 22 shots, but relied on a solid performance from its defense to post a 0-0 tie (2OT) against Alabama at the Alabama Soccer Complex on Friday night.

The Razorback (7-3-5, 3-1-3 SEC) offense was aggressive all night, as six players recorded at least two shots each, but were unable to find the back of the net. Arkansas’ defense put on a solid display, as sophomore Cameron Carter collected five saves, en route to picking up her third shutout in the last four games and her fifth shutout of the season.

With the result at Alabama (8-4-3, 3-2-2 SEC), the Razorbacks now own a two-game unbeaten streak and have earned a result in eight of their last nine contests.

Arkansas posted four of its nine shots on goal over the first 45 minutes, but were unable to find the back of the net as the two teams played to a scoreless tie. The first half shutout marked the 11th time this season that Carter has kept a clean sheet in the first 45 minutes of play.

Both teams had solid chances to break the scoreless tie in the second half, capped by a laser from senior Tyler Allen in the 85th minute that was saved by the Crimson Tide keeper.

At the end of regulation, the Razorbacks held a 19-12 advantage in shots and a 6-4 lead in shots on goal and were also winning the corner kick battle 6-3.

In the overtime periods, Alabama outshot Arkansas 8-3, but the Razorbacks held off any Crimson Tide scoring chances and went on to pick up the shutout.

Arkansas will now return home for its final home games of the season. The Razorbacks will host Auburn on Oct. 19 before welcoming No. 7 Texas A&M to Razorback Field for ‘Senior Day’ on Oct. 24. POSTGAME SOUND
Head Coach Colby Hale

On The Tie
“We’re doing a lot of things really well, but there are a few small things that we can correct to turn draws into wins. Overall, SEC draws on the road aren’t bad. It was a pretty good SEC matchup and both teams had opportunities to win it. We will go back home and look at the film, determine what we did well, get confidence from it and work to pick up three points against a really good Auburn team on Sunday.”
