HANOVER, N.H. - Sophomore forward Alex Adelabu (Houston, Texas) added his second goal in as many days, as the Dartmouth men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win over Colgate on Sunday (Sept. 9) afternoon at Burnham Field.

The teams opened the second frame deadlocked at, 0-0, before Adelabu connected with a pass out of the midfield from senior co-captain Kevin Dzierzawski (Oakland Township , Mich.).

Adelabu caught the ball on his foot and turned up field, slotting the ball just past the reach of Colgate netminder Grant Reed, giving the Big Green the go-ahead score and its second victory at Burnham Field this season.

Dartmouth (2-2-0) goalkeeper Noah Cohen (Johannesburg, South Africa) made five saves in the contest and picked up his first shutout of the season.  Although the Raiders made him work for the shutout, forcing him to make a point blank save, while his defense pushed a ball out of the goal in the final eight minutes of action.

The teams were even in most statistical categories with Dartmouth holding a 5-1 edge in saves and Colgate (1-3-2) with the 6-3 advantage on corner kicks.

The first half was a tight one all around as both teams were able to get up and down the field. Neither squad could break into the scoring column, but weren't without opportunities.

Robin Alnas (Gothenburg, Sweden) had one of the better opportunities of the half. Adelabu, after beating two Raider defenders deep in the corner, fed the ball to a streaking Alnas in the center of the field. Alnas took a strike, but sent it just wide of the net at the 15:54 mark

Hanover native Eric Jayne (Hanover, N.H.) come off the bench midway through the first half and made a difference on the right side of the field. The Hanover high school product was tracking down balls and keeping the Colgate forwards at bay from his spot in the midfield.

Dartmouth had another chance to break through on the scoreboard when Brad Jacobson (Larchmont, N.Y.) turned on a ball from outside defender Sten Stray-Gundersen (Frisco, Texas). Jacobson was right in front of the Colgate net, but his shot sailed just wide and out of bounds right before halftime.

The Big Green opens a five-game road trip next week at the New Mexico Lobos Tournament. Dartmouth will take on host and third-ranked New Mexico on Friday (Sept. 14) at 7 pm (ET) and will conclude tournament action against Missouri State on Sunday (Sept. 16) at 10 a.m. (ET).
