Pleasantville, N.Y. – Earlier this afternoon, the women's soccer team took on the Setters of Pace University on the road in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. The Panthers struck early on in the fifth minute and never looked back. They added two more insurance goals in the second to get back on the winning track after a tie and a loss in their previous outings. With the win, the Panthers advance to 6-3-2, 3-3-2 NE-10 while Pace moves to 4-4-3, 4-3-1 NE-10.

Emily Masiello wasted no time giving Adelphi an early lead. Right before the five minute mark in the opening half,  the senior forward notched her second goal of the season by beating Pace keeper Courtany Hagen on an unassisted play.

Although the Panthers held a 1-0 lead throughout the initial 45 minutes, Pace matched the Brown and Gold in shots with seven while keeping Sam Whitney busy between the posts, putting five on goal but being met with saves on each.

Eight minutes into the second, freshman Olivia Czavar tacked on the first of two Adelphi insurance goals courtesy of an Alison Gronenthal assist. The score marks the second time in as many games the West Hempstead, N.Y. native has found the back of the net.

Later in the 81st minute, senior Kaitlin Monteith put the icing on the cake with the game's third and final goal. It was her team leading seventh of the season.

The Panthers had 14 total shots, eight of which were on goal while Pace responded with 12 shots, eight of which were also on the mark. Whitney picked up the win and tied her season high with eight stops while her counterpart, Hagan, made five.

The squad will return to action on Saturday, October 6 when they travel up to Waltham, MA to take on the Falcons of Bentley in an NE-10 matchup. First kick is scheduled for a 1pm start.
