Garden City, N.Y. – In their first Northeast-10 Conference contest of the season, the women's soccer team hosted the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University and, despite 110 minutes of action, played them to a 1-1 tie. The deadlock pushes the Brown and Gold's record to 2-0-1, 0-0-1 NE-10 while the Penmen sit at 2-1-1, 0-0-1 NE-10.

Southern New Hampshire's Morgan Branco wasted no time putting her team on the board first. Teammate Ashley Jaskula sent a low cross from the right side and Branco tapped it right passed keeper Sam Whitney in just the sixth minute of the game.

Nearly 20 minutes later, the duo of Olivia Czavar and Victoria Antonino pulled Adelphi even with their counterparts. A pass that was deflected found its way to the foot of Antonino, tapped it to Czavar who found the back of the net.

The Brown and Gold came close on a handful of attempts as they searched for the go ahead goal, but came up empty. Six of their 15 shots were met with saves by Merrimack keeper, Samantha Whittier while Whitney was equally on point, making six stops of her own on 11 Warrior attempts.

Czavar accounted for three of the Panther's shots while Taylor Salmon, Samantha Lanza, Aimee Goldstein, Taylor Groth and Kelsey Simpson all registered two.

Coach's Thoughts on the Game
"It was an amazing atmosphere with nearly 450 people there to support our team in our home opener," stated Head Coach Chris Armas. "I am very proud of the way our girls competed and pushed the game for 110 minutes. We will keep working on improving our quality so that we can turn those ties into wins."
