Arestivo named third team All-Region

December 2, 2019

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Continuing to rack in the honors, Lehigh women's soccer senior Kayla Arestivo has been named third team All-North Region, as announced on Monday. This marks Arestivo's second straight season with All-Region laurels after being named to the second team as a junior. The Mountain Hawks have now featured at least one All-Region honoree in each of the last four years (with both Alyssa Riporti and Adrian Vitello being recognized in back-to-back years in 2016 and 2017).

Arestivo was one of 10 Patriot League student-athletes named All-Region, five of which were named to the third team.  The Northport, New York native tied for the team lead in goals (2) and points (5) in 2019. As a midfielder, she also played an important role in Lehigh's defensive efforts, which included eight shutouts (second in the Patriot League). Arestivo scored goals at Duquesne and home vs. UMBC while assisting on the game's only goal against Holy Cross; Wadsworth scored in the sixth minute to hand the Crusaders their first, and only, league defeat of the season.

The Mountain Hawks ended their season with a 3-5-1 league mark, falling just shy of their fourth straight Patriot League Tournament despite actually finishing with one more point than they did last year when they advanced to the league championship game. Two of Lehigh's three league victories came against teams who combined for the last six Patriot League Championships (Boston University and Bucknell) while the third was a 1-0 victory over Holy Cross to hand the Crusaders their first (and still only) Patriot League defeat.
