Armstrong Announces 2013 Recruiting Class

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University head coach Eric Faulconer has announced his recruiting class for the 2013 season. The class of eight freshmen have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Pirates this fall.

The eight incoming players are: 5-8 midfielder Erin Berube (Merritt Island, Fla.); 5-5 midfielder Kailey Goins (St. Augustine, Fla.), 5-4 forward Kennedi Herrmann (Milton, Ontario); 5-2 defender Jessi Johnson (Concord, Ga.); 5-7 goalkeeper Erica Laurens (Austell, Ga.); 5-4 defender Allison Litchfield (Lilburn, Ga.); 5-8 midfielder Sarah Olin (New Port Richey, Fla.); 5-3 forward Tiffany Rodriguez (Atlanta, Ga.).

"After graduating nine seniors in 2012, we knew this recruiting class would be critical to our continued high level of success," said head coach Eric Faulconer. "I am absolutely thrilled with the newest members of our program. Skill, athleticism and character define this talented group. Our coaching staff worked tirelessly in this process and the quality of that work is evident with this group of young ladies. All eight of these players are capable of starting in our program and I look forward to the preseason battles for playing time in early August."

Armstrong will return 15 players, including six starters. Twelve returners have started games during their playing career. The 2012 team finished 19-2-2 on the season and were ranked No. 5  in the final NSCAA national top 25 poll. Armstrong was ranked No. 1 in the final NSCAA regular season top 25 poll. The Pirates laid claim to the 2012 Peach Belt regular season and tournament championships, the NCAA southeast region title en route to an Elite 8 appearance. Armstrong returns Peach Belt All-Conference selections sophomore defender Taylor Russell and senior midfielder Andye Dawson, as well as NSCAA All-Region sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Luckie.
