BRONX, N.Y. – Army outshot host Fordham 24-5 in a non-conference college women's soccer match Friday evening, but could not score the golden goal against backup keeper Ally White who pulled up with 10 saves over the final 65 minutes of action to deny the Black Knights from snapping a 1-1 halftime tie in the ninth meeting between the teams.

Army senior Kimberly An opened the scoring when she tallied unassisted 11 minutes into the contest on a rebound off a save by starting keeper Megan Fitzgerald for her team-leading third goal of the season. Fordham tied the score 12 minutes later on a tally by Kelsey Dougherty Howard whose shot glanced off the crossbar at Jack Coffey Field.

The Black Knights (2-2-1) closed out the first half with five shots, two on goal by An, and Fordham (0-3-1) also had two shots on goal against Army freshman keeper Jordan Cassalia as the teams headed into the locker room with the score tied 1-1.

Army's defense shut down Fordham the rest of the game in holding them to just one shot, which came two minutes into the second overtime period with Cassalia pulling up with her second save of the game.

The Black Knights dominated the final 65 minutes of action (outshooting Fordham 19-1), but could not get one past White, who took over as goalkeeper at the start of the second half. She was quickly tested by Joey Molacek's shot just 31 seconds into the half as Army peppered the Fordham net with 13 shots, seven on goal, over the final 45 minutes of regulation. The Black Knights' final two attempts came just 20 seconds apart late in that period by Katie Holder and Candace Stewart.

Army ripped off four shots in the first overtime with three late back-to-back shots on goal over a span of 2:44 with An firing the first and Anna Lail ripping off back-to-back shots. The Black Knights' two shots in the second overtime period went wide.

"We had some good opportunities tonight," stated first-year head coach Marcia McDermott, "and I was pleased with how well we moved the ball."

Holder had a game-high seven shots with three on goal, while four of An's five shots were on goal. Army held a 9-5 corner kick advantage to include a 5-2 margin in the final 45 minutes of regulation.

The Black Knights, in the midst of a five-game road stretch, head to New Jersey on Sunday to take on NCAA participant Princeton.
