WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (www.purduesports.com) – Purdue women’s soccer continued its torrid offensive pace to begin the young season, finding the back of the three times in just over five minutes in the second half to rally past Dartmouth, 5-3, Friday evening at the Boilermaker Soccer Complex.

Five different Purdue players scored in the victory – Maddy Williams, Mollie Kuramoto, Hadley Stuart, Chinyelu Asher and Mikayla Lasky.

The Boilermakers (3-2) have now scored 18 goals in their first five games of the season, a program high to start a campaign. It’s also the most over any five-game stretch since Purdue scored 20 goals over five consecutive wins in November 2007.

Dartmouth (0-1) only surrendered 13 goals in its 17 games in 2012, posting a 13-4 record in the process. The Big Green did not surrender more than two goals in a game all of last year. The Ivy League side opened its new season Friday.

Williams opened the scoring in the final seconds of the 21st minute with her team-leading fifth goal of the season. Mollie Kuramoto headed in a corner kick in the 60th minute for an equalizer, which doubled as her third goal of 2013 (fifth career). Hadley Stuart also scored her third goal of the season (10th career), flicking a shot over the goalkeeper’s head in the 64th minute to give the Boilers the lead back. Chinyelu Asher capped the impressive offensive stretch in the 66th minute with her third goal of her junior campaign (ninth career).

As one of four freshmen in the starting lineup for Purdue, Lasky scored her first collegiate goal on the same night in which she made her first start. She connected on a left-footed volley off a Jordan Pawlik set piece in the 86th minute. Alex Hairston and Pawlik both had a pair of assists in the win. Hairston recorded her fifth career multi-assist game to extend her program record.

Asher, Kuramoto, Stuart and Williams have each scored in three of the first four home games this year.

After seeing action in relief in three of the first four games, freshman goalkeeper Jordan Ginther made her first collegiate start Friday. She finished with four saves but was not able to secure a save in the 58th minute when Dartmouth took a 2-1 lead. Lucielle Kozlov’s shot from the top of the 18-yard box squirted through the hands of Ginther as she tried to make the save above her head. The goalkeeper scrambled back and threw the ball back into play before it touched inside the net, but the linesman ruled that the entire ball had cleared the goal line.

Dartmouth also scored off its only corner kick chance of the game, with Kelly Bach heading in the corner with 27 seconds left in the first half for a late equalizer. Corey Delaney capped the wild night of scoring in the 86th minute when she buried a point blank chance after the ball deflected off a player standing near the left post. Delaney’s goal came only 32 seconds after Lasky had scored to make it a 5-2 score.

Williams’ impressive display of dribbling led to the game’s first goal. The freshman created space for herself in the heart of the 18-yard box and scored into the left side of the net.

Megan Kaser played in the corner kick from the northeast corner of the field that Kuramoto headed into the net to pull the Boilers even in the second half. Pawlik’s well-placed serves on set pieces led to the goals by Stuart and Lasky. Asher recorded her third career game-winning goal when she hit a well-placed floater from the outer edge of the 18-yard box over the goalkeeper’s head and into the top half of the goal.

Melissa Casella, Kim Love and Lasky went the distance among the Purdue field players. Jordan Frick logged 42 minutes to lead the reserves.

The Boilermakers return to action Sunday when they host Seattle at noon.
