Big Green Make is Seven Straight

ITHACA, N.Y. - A Chrissy Lozier (Fairfield, Conn.) goal just 1:06 into the second half sparked the Dartmouth women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Cornell in the final game of the regular season on Saturday  (Nov. 3) in Ithaca.

The win was Dartmouth's seventh consecutive and gives the Big Green their 13th win -- the most wins since the 2000 season, when they picked up 14 victories.

After a scoreless first half, Dartmouth (13-4-0, 6-1-0 Ivy League) wasn't leaving anything to chance and picked up its first goal just 1:06 into the second half. Lozier connected with a pass from classmate Marina Moschitto (Andover, Mass.) to give the Big Green the lead.

Dartmouth continued to be a force on the offensive side of the ball forcing Cornell (1-14-1, 0-6-1 Ivy League) to spend much of the game defending. Emma Brush (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) and Lozier took the majority of the shots but much like her goal last week Tasha Wilkins (Portland, Ore.) made an instant impact off the bench.

Just 1:15 after being subbed in for Moschitto, Wilkins picked up her third goal in the last two games. The sophomore connected with a pass from Kelly Brait (Glenview, Ill.) out of the back and put the ball past Cornell goalkeeper, Tori Christ, giving the Big Green the two-goal advantage.

Brush led the offense with 10 shots on goal, while Lozier added six.  In all, 10 of the Big Green's 14 players recorded a shot.  Dartmouth also posted a season-high 31 shots for its second game of 30 or more shots.

From that point on the Dartmouth defense took over, shutting down the Cornell forwards and allowing them without a shot in the final 32:24 of action in the contest.

Tatiana Saunders (Rye, N.Y.) picked up her seventh shutout and made just three saves in 90:00 of action.

Moschitto added a goal of her own at the 83:03 mark all but insuring the Big Green of its 13th win of the season.

Despite outshooting the host Big Red, 16-4, in the first half, the Big Green couldn't get on the board but it wasn't for lack of opportunity.

Dartmouth tested Cornell goalkeeper, Tori Christ, early and a shot from Emma Brush (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) at the 2:49 mark started a barrage of shots from the Big Green, including three straight.

Brush looked as if she was going to pick up her eighth goal of the season in the 13th minute. After a Cornell shot from Maneesha Chitanvis, Brush teed up a shot that hit the post, keeping the game tied at 1-1.

The Big Green put on the full court press in the final minutes of the first half, recording three shots in the final minutes of play.  Wilkins has a shot saved by Christ and then had one blocked before a header from Lucielle Kozlov (Vancouver, British Columbia) went wide in the final minute.

Dartmouth will find out its postseason fate on Monday (Nov. 5). The NCAA Selection Show airs on NCAA.com beginning at 4:30 p.m.
