Boldt Named AAA Athlete Of The Week
Army men’s soccer junior goalkeeper Winston Boldt earned recognition as the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for the first time this year after posting a pair of shutouts last week.
Boldt made four stops during the Black Knights’ 2-0 victory over Manhattan on Monday, Sept. 2, before making four more saves in Army’s 1-0 win at service academy rival Air Force on Saturday, Sept. 7. The triumph over Air Force marked Army’s second consecutive win over the Falcons, and was its first victory in Colorado Springs since 1975.
The St. Louis, Mo., native has recorded 10 saves and three shutouts this season while playing an important role in the team’s first 3-0 start since 2007.
Boldt is the second men’s soccer play to earn the AAA Athlete of the Week honors, following freshman forward Nick Williams last week.
Boldt and the Black Knights return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 11, when they host Marist at 7 p.m. at Clinton Field. The match will be video streamed live on Knight Vision, the Black Knights’ subscription-based multimedia platform available through Army’s official website (www.goARMYsports.com). Live stats will also be available through GameTracker and in-game Twitter updates will be offered via the men’s soccer team’s official handle (@Army_MSoccer).
