The Boston College women's soccer team earned a tough 1-0 victory over Northeastern at Parsons Field on Wednesday night. BC is now 4-1-0 on the season with three consecutive victories on the road. Northeastern dropped to 2-2-1.

Boston College took the lead behind sophomore Hayley Dowd's goal in the 35 minute. Dowd headed in a corner kick from junior Lauren Bernard. Dowd now has three goals on the season but this was her first game-winning goal. It was Bernard's second assist of the season.

At the half, Boston College held a 5-to-3 edge in shots taken in the first half. BC had the one corner kick which led to the lone goal in the game, while Northeastern had zero.

In the second half, the Huskies offense sputtered at the start as the Eagles defenders - Allyson SwabyCoco Woeltz and Meg MacDonald - kept the Eagles lead intact.

In the 56th minute the Huskies offense started to pressure the Eagles defense. One of the best chances came on the Huskies first corner kick. The first shot off the corner, was deflected out of the goal mouth by BC junior Coco Woeltz, who was holding tight on the far post. Woeltz positioning preserved the Eagles one goal lead. Woeltz stayed put as she cut down the angle on the follow up shot from Northeastern, as the next shot went wide of goal.

BC came back quickly as Dowd ripped a left-footed shot from 16 yards out just high over the cross bar. She led the BC offense with five shots in the game. In the 85th minute, the Huskies Kim Slade hit a crossbar off a shot from 16 yards out on a left-footed shot. The rebound came out and Haley Sinclair header hit the crossbar. The second rebound came out and Sinclair's shot was blocked by a BC's MacDonald to secure the lead.

The Eagles goalkeeper Alexandra Johnson earned her second shutout with three saves. Northeastern's goalkeeper Paige Burnett had one save in the game. Northeastern had 11 shots in the game, while Boston College had eight. Both teams had three corner kicks.
