Boston College men defeat Virginia Tech

Sophomore Kyle Bekker’s goal in the 56th minute broke a 1-1 tie and classmate Sacir Hot added his second goal of the season less than three minutes later to lift 20th-ranked Boston College to a 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference win over Virginia Tech in the team’s final regular-season game before 376 fans at Thompson Field.
The teams were tied at 1-1 after the first half of play. Sophomore forward Charlie Rugg netted his eighth goal of the season in the second minute, before Virginia Tech’s David Clemens evened the score at 35:51.
Bekker netted the decisive goal off a free kick at 55:58. Hot concluded the scoring 2:36 later.
Both teams registered nine shots in the match.
Boston College sophomore Justin Luthy made two saves. Virginia Tech junior James Daly made three stops.
The Eagles will await the conference’s final regular-season game between Virginia and NC State on Sunday, Nov. 7 to learn of their seeding in the upcoming ACC Men’s Soccer Championship in Cary, N.C. next week.
