Broncs Close Non-Conference Play with Win
EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women’s soccer team closed out its first non-conference season with a 1-0 win over the Our Lady of the Lake University Saints on Saturday at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Freshman Harlingen South alum Erica Gonzalez (3-0-0) recorded her second shutout of the season by making four saves.
The Broncs (6-1-3) got the only goal they needed 14:01 into the match. Freshman Frida Farstad-Eriksson sent a long pass ahead to freshman Aimie Inthoulay, who picked it up in the right corner of the box and sent a cross to the middle where freshman Jessica Suarez picked the ball up and buried it.
That was it against Saints (2-5) goalkeeper Gabriella Lopez (2-1-0), who made five saves.
The Broncs outshot the Saints 16-6, including 6-4 on goal. The Broncs also attempted five corner kicks while holding the Saints to one opportunity.
