BU Tops Women's Soccer in Opener

<p>Junior goalkeeper <a href="http://www.ccsubluedevils.com/sports/wsoc/2012-13/bios/deiter%20nikola%204m36">Nikola Deiter</a> made nine saves in net for the Central Connecticut women's soccer team, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Devils dropped their season opener 3-0 on the road at Boston University on Friday night.&nbsp; Central is 0-1.&nbsp; The Terriers, who won a school-record 19 games last season, are 1-0.</p> <p>Deiter's nine saves were the most in a single game for the junior captain since last Sept. 11 when she made 10 in a 2-2 draw vs. Syracuse.&nbsp; Eight of her saves came before halftime.</p> <p>BU led 1-0 at the break, off the first goal of the season from Brea Hewitt.&nbsp; She took a rebound off a corner kick and gave the Terriers the lead in the 29th minute.</p> <p>Two goals in a five minute span in the second half pushed the lead to 3-0 for BU.&nbsp; Jamie Turchi scored in the 71st minute and then Hewitt added her second tally of the match five minutes later.</p> <p>The Terriers held a 12-3 advantage in shots on goal in the match, and a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.</p> <p>The Blue Devils will be off until next Friday when they travel to Vermont for a 4 p.m. match.&nbsp; They will play twice in three days in the University of Vermont Fall Classic.&nbsp; On Sunday, Aug. 26, they will play New Hampshire at 11 a.m.</p>
