SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.--Sarah Lancaster scored off a rebound in the 85th minute as Cal Poly (2-0) defeated CSU Bakersfield (0-2) 1-0 in women's soccer action Sunday.

The Roadrunners pressured the Mustangs, taking a pair of shots shortly before Cal Poly mounted the offensive attack that resulted in the first of two Lancaster shots which CSUB goalie Tori Ornela (R-Fr., Lemoore, Calif., Lemoore HS) made a save.  The ball came back out in front for Lancaster setting up the gamewinning goal. A pair of Erica Shelton (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., UC Santa Barbara) shots in the final two minutes went high and wide.

For the second consecutive match, CSUB outshot their opponent. The Roadrunners held a 18-15 advantage over the Mustangs. Ornela recorded seven saves.

"I am very pleased with our performance," said CSUB head coach Melissa Phillips. "We battled the entire game, having the better end of the opportunities. This group has tremendous potential and we are excited about the room to continue to grow."

The Roadrunners travel to San Jose State Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
