Cal Poly Dominates in 4-1 Win Over Sac State

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.-  Cal Poly women's soccer team faced Sacramento State Sunday afternoon in their second game of the road trip.  The Mustangs' powerful second half led them to a 4-1 win.

It was pretty even play for the first thirty minutes, each team with three shots and two on goal.  Shots remained even for much of the first half.  Just before the half though, sophomore Sara Epps scored on a shot in the top left corner of the box to the far post.

52 minutes into the match, Sacramento State's Raylene Larot scored off an assist by Jordan Carlberg. A minute and half later, Cal Poly juniorCristina Farrington was able to get a shot between the posts with an assist from senior Julie McKee.

Cal Poly made run on the scoreboard with two more goals in less than a minute.  Junior Braelyn Fetsch found the back of the net at 58 minutes off an an assist from Cici Kobinski.  Then off a deflected save by goalie Kimberly Mata, Kobinski was able to get the ball to Farrington who scored her second goal of the game.

Farrington scored two goals, Kobinski tallied two assists.  Epps and Fetsch each scored once and an assist from McKee.  Goalkeeper Alyssa Giannetti made seven saves.  Cal Poly's record improves to 3-0-1 and Sacramento State drops to 1-1-1.

The Mustangs are back in action at home against Cal on August 31st for a 6pm game.
