ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team could not find a way to silence Bethel's Jessica Huseby Saturday afternoon, as the Royals sharpshooter had two goals and an assist in lifting BU to a 4-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Cardinals at Ona Orth Field.

The Royals did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard, as Huesby took a feed from Anne Fazio and beat SMU goalkeeper Miranda Halling (Rochester, Minn.) for the game's first goal in the fifth minute.

Twenty-three minutes later, Huesby ad Fazio were at it again — only the roles were reversed — as Huesby set up Fazio to push the Royals' lead to 2-0.

The Cardinal offense, stymied for much of the first half, cut the deficit to one with less than five minutes remaining, as Sloane Kuramoto (Rochester, Minn.) netted her first of the season off an assist from Caroline Blackwood (Norwalk, Ohio) to cut the gap to 2-1 at the break.

That, however, would be as close as the Cardinals would get, as Bethel scored two goals in the 27 minutes of the second half — including Huseby's second of the game in the 52nd minute — to ice the win.

It was a busy day in goal for Halling, as the Cardinal sophomore faced 19 shots, finishing with a season- and career-high 15 saves. Bethel goalkeeper Kathryn McGaffrey, meanwhile, stopped one of the Cardinals' two shots on goal.

SMU is back in action on Wednesday, as the Cardinals return home to host Gustavus in a 7 p.m. conference match at Ochrymowycz Field.
