The Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Fayetteville, Ga. will welcome 48 players for training from Sept. 1-8 as the U.S. U-16 and U-15 Girls’ National Teams come together for a concurrent camp.
U.S. Under-15 Girls’ National Team head coach Vanessa Mann invited 24 players, all born in 2012. The U.S. U-16 GNT camp, which will also feature 24 players, all born in 2011, will be headed by a coach to be determined. The teams will scrimmage each other once during the camps.
This is the third training camp for the U.S. U-16 GNT at U.S. Soccer’s new home but the first for players born in 2011, as the age groups change in the summer. As Katie Schoepfer transitions from the U.S. U-16 GNT head coach back to coach the U.S. U-17 WNT (primarily 2010 birth years), a different coach will be in charge of this 2011 group until the end of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, at which time current U.S. U-17 WNT head coach Ciara Crinion will take over the 2011s in preparation for qualifying for the 2028 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and Schoepfer will continue to coach the 2010s in preparation for qualifying for the 2027 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
This U.S. U-16 GNT roster is made up of players from 20 youth clubs, with San Diego Surf SC having three players on the roster while Virginia Development Academy and Eclipse Select SC out of Illinois have two players each. There are eight players from California on the roster.
This is the fourth training camp for the U.S. U-15 GNT this year, their second at U.S. Soccer’s new home and the first Mann will coach with a roster born entirely in 2012 due to the same age group changeover.
Sixteen different clubs are represented on this U-15 GNT roster with San Diego Surf SC leading the pack with four players. Solar SC in Texas has three players on the roster while Athletic Club Florida, Ohio Premier SC and the Players Development Academy in New Jersey have two players each. Eight players are from California on this roster, while Texas boasts the next-most representation with four players.
These camps are a part of the Federation’s continued focus on the U.S. Way philosophy, which emphasizes increased programming for Youth National Teams to create more opportunities for young players to advance through the pathway to the senior National Team with the goal of representing their country at a world championship.
